UC Clermont’s Staff Council Philanthropy Committee has recently raised over $1,300 for the Bill Brewer Memorial fund.

The fund, in honor of the Clermont County Sheriff’s detective who lost his life in last month’s fatal standoff at the Royal Oak apartment complex, is operated through Park National Bank. All donations are kept in an account set up by the bank who works directly with Detective Brewer’s family.

The committee also made over thirty appreciation grams carrying messages of support for the sheriff’s department and the families of Det. Brewer and Lt. DeRose – DeRose was also injured during the standoff. Staff Council President Kelli Fickle and Philanthropy Committee Chair Monika Royal-Fischer hand-delivered the grams.

“What’s been great to see is how the entire Clermont County community has come together to support the Brewer Family,” said Royal-Fischer.

There have been other fundraisers in honor of Det. Brewer throughout the county, as well. Last month, according to Local 12, Williamsburg High School held a spaghetti dinner in which 700 people were in attendance. That very same day the Dairy Queen in Batavia hosted a fundraiser to donate fifty percent of the day’s sales. All money raised from these events went directly to the Brewer family.

Remarkable Designs is selling fundraiser T-shirts with $10 of each sale also being donated to the Brewer family.

“I can’t say that there’s one organization that is leading the charge,” commented Royal-Fischer. “Rather, you see schools, businesses, churches, individuals all coming together to show support.”

Future fundraisers have already been planned, including:

  • March 9th: Bill Brewer Car Show, West Clermont High school, 10:00 am-5:00 pm.
  • March 9th: Benefit to Honor Officer Bill Brewer, Old Firehouse Brewery, Williamsburg, OH 6:00pm -10:00pm.
  • March 25th: Benefit Kickball Tournament, Mt. Orab Sport Complex 600, Day Rd, 1:00pm.
  • April 7th: Honoring a Hero, Jimmy B’s Bar and Grill, Cincinnati, OH (time unannounced).

Donations can be made to the Bill Brewer Memorial Fund by visiting any Park National Bank.
